BIOGRAPHY
“There is no shame in growing old, she said, caressing his cheek. His eyes lost focus, his mind swimming with regrets. The things he could have said or done. The unfulfilled dreams. The risks not taken. Lost friendships. Submission. Compromise. Guilt. Fear. Secrets. Lies.
What had become of life? What had made him compromise his life to suit those who would enslave him? A rage lingered somewhere inside, looking for escape. Vengeance will come, and it will be on his terms.
The Terms of Equanimity.
Welcome to Scottish veteran alt-rock/post-grunge band Metatone. A four-piece based each side of the Forth, comprising Andy Colliar on guitar and vocals, John Hughes on bass and vocals, Andrew Bell on guitar and vocals and Rod Habeshaw on drums and vocals.
Sick of trying to be alternative, just like everyone else, Metatone is a band that are proud to be themselves, playing the music they love the way they want. Independent. Self-produced. The DIY ethos of true punk. Perfection is for tomorrow to worry about. Today we need to say what needs to be said.

2023
On the road as a four-piece once more, with tasteful guitars added by Andrew Bell. Work continues on the next, as-yet-untitled, album aiming for a release late in the year.

2020-2022
Touring in support of the 45 EP with Kyle Golder on second guitar. Metatone played a number of gigs including Grungefest in Glasgow (2021), the Dreadnaught in Bathgate, and The Tower Bar in Livingston. The band also had a track feature on Unicorn Tracks Volume 1, a compilation album supporting Diabetes UK.
The Vices EP was recorded during lockdown in April-May 2020, and released in the summer of 2021.

2010-2019
Forming in 2010, Metatone came into being as a result of the amalgamation of the musical ideas and influences of the founding members, Andy, John and Roddy, who had each played together in previous musical projects over the preceding 20 years.
