Andy reminisces about playing music in his younger days, with friends from his youth.
Putting my bio together took me back to the summers of 1991-93, around the time Rod and I were playing in Cry Hades.
A wee group of friends and I formed this garage band garage band collective. We belted out loose and loud punk and metal songs over long slow summer nights in the garage round the back of my folks’ house in Eaglesfield (much to the disgust of the local Bowling Club next door!)
The most memorable lineup was Andy Miller on vocals, Ribs on bass, Craig on drums, Roger on guitar, Gravy on guitar and vocals (sometimes bass), and me on guitar.
We covered all sorts of songs, from Secret Agent Man by Devo to Killing in the Name Of by Rage Against the Machine, and others by bands like Misfits, Ramones, and a couple of songs from Metallica’s 1987 Garage Days Revisited EP… We even had a few originals. We had a lot of fun making music together and recall those days fondly.
I’m so sad to say that Craig, Roger, and Gravy are all now deceased. But I’ll never forget the good times we had making music together. They were some of the best years of my life.
If you’re ever in the Eaglesfield area, be sure to check out my old garage. It’s where it all started.
Who’d have known that a decade and a half later I’d be playing with Holocaust, who were featured on that Metallica Garage Days Revisited EP?!
