Coming Soon – New Mini-Album, Psychobiotic

  • by

Metatone are pleased to announce that recording has commenced for their next mini-album, which will be called Psychobiotic. The album will feature six songs, all of which were written by the band. It is scheduled for release in early 2024.

“We’re really excited about this new album,” says Andy Colliar, guitarist and vocalist for Metatone. “We’ve been working on the songs for a while now, and we think it’s our best work yet. It’s darker, psychedelic in places, and more experimental than our previous recordings, but it’s still very much the Metatone sound.”

John Hughes, bassist, adds, “We’re really looking forward to getting into the studio and recording these songs. We’ve got some great ideas, and we can’t wait to see how they come together.”

Psychobiotic is a concept album that explores themes of inner and outer consciousness. The songs on the album deal with topics such as anxiety, guilt, and addiction. However, the album is not meant to be a downer. Rather, it feels both thought-provoking and uplifting.

“We have been working on a couple of dozen songs for the project. The 6 songs selected for Psychobiotic come together really strongly and the sum is much bigger than the parts.” says Colliar. “We think Psychobiotic is a powerful statement that will resonate with people whether or not they have struggles with their mental health. We hope it will bring people escape, hope and inspiration.”

Metatone is no stranger to tackling difficult topics in their music. Their previous EP, 45, explored the themes of loss, anger, and disaffection. However, Psychobiotic is their most personal album to date.

“This album is very much about our own experiences with mental health,” says Hughes. “We wanted to be as honest and open as possible in our songwriting. We hope that by sharing our stories, we can help others who are struggling.”

Metatone have booked studio time at SubStation for the recording of Psychobiotic in August and September, and the work will be engineered, mixed, and mastered by Michael Brennan.

The album is scheduled for release in early 2024.
